About Woollybutt

Woollybutt Specialist Services was started to help close the gap in the provision of services to people with a disability in the Northern Territory for specialist services. With a long-standing history in provision of support to people with a disability Cherry Reynolds, Occupational Therapist, wanted to ensure that with the changes to the disability sector that people would still have access to services that help them to experience positive lives.

Why the name Woollybutt?

The Darwin Woollybutt, is a common tree around the Darwin area. It gets its name after the stringy flaky almost woolly bark at the base of the tree.

This bark protects the tree from the fires that burn in the dry season allowing it to regrow.

We chose the name Woollybutt because we want to help others develop skills and strategies they need to protect them from the fires in life, like the bark of the tree.
